Socks, Pin Cushions and Stories – heritage craft project

Join Up For Crafts to remember the unsung craftswomen of the First World War. During the war many women joined initiatives such as the Women’s War Service Bureau and contributed their craft skills to knit thousands of pairs of socks and make care packages to send to the troops.

Do you love to stitch or would you like to learn more? Learn how to make a ‘sweetheart’ pincushion inspired by those made by soldiers and loved ones.

Do you have an ancestor who was involved in the war effort for WWI?  Share their story with a researcher from the Merseyside At War project and also find out how to become a volunteer story-gatherer.
