Great Uncle George Fearon

Little is known about this young man who was killed in action in Belgium

George served with the 18th Battalion of the King’s Liverpool Regiment. His number was 203094.

It is not known when George enlisted. His Battalion was formed in Liverpool on 29 August 1914 by Lord Derby, in the old watch factory at Prescot.

Part of the 30th Division the 18th Battalion of the King’s Liverpool Regiment saw action in France and Flanders. George may have taken part in battles in Scarpe part of the Arras Offensive or The Battle of Pilkem Ridge, a phase of the Third Battles of Ypres

George was killed in action in September 1917. He is buried in Torreken Farm Cemetry, Belgium. George was just 19 years old when he was killed.

George was awarded the British and Victory medal.
