John Ball at the Western Front

Upon enlisting John was a member of the King’s Liverpool Regiment, he subsequently switched to the 1st Battalion of the Loyal North Lancashire and was sent to France. Upon enlisting John was a member of the King’s Liverpool Regiment, he subsequently switched to the 1st Battalion of the Loyal North Lancashire and was sent to France.

John was killed on the Western Front on 12th November 1917. He is buried at Passchendaele New British Cemetery Zonnebekewest-Vlaanderen, Belgium.

Upon his death he was awarded the British Medal and the Victory Medal. He is remembered in the book of Remembrance at the Anglican Cathedral, the Hall of Remembrance in Liverpool Town Hall and also on the war memorial at St Anthony’s Church, Scotland Road, Liverpool.
