The Life of Driver Lawrence Bentley

Lawrence was in the Territorial Force, which was the volunteer reserve of the British Army. In 1914 following the outbreak of war Territorial units were given the option of serving in France and by late 1914 over 70 battalions had volunteered.

Lawrence was a Driver with the Royal Field Artillery in the 57th Division of the Ammunition Column. In 1918 they were in France. He was one of a number of Drivers transporting muinitons and supplies to the Battery positions from the Division.

It is not known what happened to Lawrence or how he was injured. On 2nd September 1918 it was reported that Lawrence died from wounds. He was 37 years old.
